March 29 2006, partial solar ecplise

The Catania Astrophysical Observatory of the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, INAF) and the "Sezione di Astrofisica del Dipartimento di Fisica e Astronomia" of Catania University have organized the observation of the partial solar ecplise on March 29 2006. People where welcomed to the Observatory solar facilities in Catania,via S. Sofia 78.

The eclipse started at 11:20 am and ended at 13:48 (09:20 - 11:48 UT). The maximum was at 12:33 am; about 72% of the Sun disk will be obscured.

Visitors program:
  • real time observation of the phenomenon
  • short talks on solar eclipses given by astronomers of the Catania Astrophysical Observatory or of the Department of Physics and Astronomy of Catania University.
